Aletia A. Alvarez - Co-Founder of Madrona MindBody Institute
Teaching: Soul Motion: SoulFul Sundays and Mindful Movement
Aletia is a cultivator of connection and brings a diverse and varied background to her Soul Motion™ practice. As a Certified Soul Motion Teacher, years as an organizational consultant and non-profit leader, her spark for creative movement has catalyzed dynamic personal and professional changes—allowing for the emergence of SoulFul Dance. SoulFul Dance provides a transformative "foot" bridge between interior life and the conscious understanding of self and relationship to community. Aletia works with groups and individuals that see themselves as cultural creatives... those individuals, innovative businesses, artists, activists, healers, and seekers that understand that it is time to forge new pathways, find the courage to align, and listen to "the call" or "knowing." EmBODYment of this unique landscape and vital information sustains those in transforming their daily and community lives. Thanking Vinn Arjuna Martí, Zuza Engler, Selah Martha, Judith Alexander, Michael Molin-Skelton, Winky Wheeler, Allison Dey, and the Madrona Dancing Community as her most recent mentors and teachers.
MIchael MOLIN-SKELTON - soul motion
Michael reaches through dance rather than teaches to dance. He has been dancing since being pushed through the birth canal. After receiving a bachelor of fine arts degree from UCLA he performed and choreographed in companies both nationally and internationally for 15 years. He met Gabrielle Roth early in 1994. Later that year, at the request of Gabrielle, he began teaching the 5rhythms. Michael got his 5rhythms certification in 1998 and teacher certification in Soul Motion in 2001. He has been a 16 year student of continuum montage with Susan Harper and his teaching of the 5rhythms and Soul Motion has been greatly influenced by her mentoring. He is a certified Esalen massage practitioner since 1995 and is passionate about the art of touch.

BILL EVANS - evans SOmatic dance technique
Bill Evans has a long-established international reputation as a modern dance and rhythm tap dance choreographer, performer, company director and educator. He is perhaps best known as the creator of a Laban/Bartenieff-based dance technique that is disseminated in annual summer institutes and taught throughout North America. He moved to Providence in August 2014, when his husband, Don Halquist, became dean of the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development at Rhode Island College. Since that time, Evans has presented his choreography and performance at AS220 and RIC, and he has choreographed for Fusionworks Dance, Newport’s Island Moving Company, and the dance companies of Rhode Island College and Providence College. He was awarded the RISCA Choreography Fellowship in 2016. His first appearances at Brown University took place in 1980, when the Seattle-based Bill Evans Dance Company fulfilled a month-long Rhode Island residency under the auspices of RISCA and the National Endowment for the Arts’ Dance Touring Program.

Vinn Arjuna Marti - Soul Motion Founder
Whether running in circles in the schoolyard or circling partners at Catholic youth dances in the Bronx; these were a few of the places I experienced freedom and aliveness. Years performing provided a deep understanding of how to clearly occupy space. Time spent as a storyteller informed me how to speak with presence. Years spent working with young children informed me about patience. Later in my dance career I met Gabrielle Roth and I knew then that I no longer wanted to dance for people, but rather with them.
This is what I offer. Freedom. Aliveness. Presence.
Zuza Engler - Soul Motion
Zuza Engler, an authorized teacher of Soul Motion™, has been on the spiral path of kinesthetic investigation into consciousness for over two decades, in motion, stillness and process inquiry. She is a long-term student and practitioner of Buddhism, Soul Motion™, and Gestalt Awareness Practice. She teaches regularly in the San Francisco Bay Area, at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California and is on the faculty of the Soul Motion Teacher Training Program. Her web site is http://www.transformativedance.co
Kristina Mayer - Soul Motion
Kristina completed the year-long teacher training apprenticeship at the International Soul Motion School™ with designer Vinn Arjuna Martí in 2011. Soul Motion™ inspires awareness and presence in self and with others; elements that lead to enhanced quality in our personal and professional life. Kristina believes that healthy, embodied leaders are more effective leaders. Leadership has several dimensions—the "what", the "how" and the "source". Through movement and stillness practice, she seeks to cultivate this third source dimension. The "source" is the inner place from which we operate; it is quality of intention and an awareness of work, play, and life. The source, this inner condition of self, has everything to do with our success. Soul Motion™ helps us achieve greater clarity, energy, and emotional stamina... on and off the floor.
Kathy altman - open floor Conscious Dance
Kathy has been fascinated with dance and movement all her life. Having studied almost every form of dance, her first love is the one where you make up your own steps. The 5Rhythms® and Gabrielle Roth have been her teacher for nearly forty years. She collaborated with Gabrielle to bring her work out into the world and helped to birth her first two books, Maps to Ecstasy and Sweat Your Prayers.
Along with Andrea Juhan and Lori Saltzman, Kathy co-founded The Moving Center School in California, which was the teacher training arm for the 5Rhythms® and has become one of the largest dancing communities in North America. Open Floor International is the new organization she is co-creating to offer the healing work she’s found in all movement practices from dance to yoga.
Kathy considers two of her greatest accomplishments to be her 32+ year relationship with her partner, Lori, and the fact that her 17 year old son, Daniel, still talks to her about almost everything.
Andrea Juhan - Open Floor Conscious Dance
Becoming an attuned and skillful inhabitant of a human body has always fascinated me. Embodiment as a path of study and devotion holds the felt sense of life as we live it, the creative qualities of imagination, inspiration, and art and the transcendent qualities of presence, compassion, love and Union with Spirit. I have approached embodiment through every doorway I could find: Bodywork, Yoga, dance of all kinds, hiking, living life, being a mother, a lover, Somatic psychotherapy, meditation, thru professional trainings, academic programs and constant dedicated practice.
The following 3 areas have had a huge influence in my work: 12 years as a community member at Esalen Institute, where I studied: Gestalt Awareness Practice with Chris and Dick Price, Movement with Anna + Daria Halprin, and Gabrielle Roth, and many other astounding teachers in the fields of humanistic psychology and the healing arts. I taught body work and dance and worked on the massage crew.
Training with Gabrielle Roth in the 5Rhythms® inspired my teaching and training globally for over thirty years.
My education and work in clinical somatic psychology as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Training Faculty for the Rosenberg Institute for Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP)
The words I hear the most about my style of teaching is: clear, kind, insightful and courageous. This means a lot to me as so many of my teachers mentioned above and beyond have held me in the same.
