DANCING THE DIVIDE: A Partnered Movement Class for All Disciplines with Wren LaFeet

Dancing The Divide_PT_web - Cocréa Mindful Partner Dance.jpg

This two day workshop is designed to bring form and formless together to play and practice the art of meeting and joining each other. Soul Motion practitioners - this is an opportunity to give dynamic structure to your Dance Communion and discover powerful tools for crafting your personal space for even more powerful connection. Fusion dancers - this is an opportunity to explore your solo dance expression and refine your own movement within partnership as well as let go of any preconceived form or notion of how it should look. No experience with either of these dance practices is necessary. The aim is to come together in one room to see what we can learn from each other and have fun in the process.

Cocréa was originally imagined as a bridging modality for dancers from social partner dance circles and ecstatic/conscious dance circles to meet on any dance floor and find connection. It has grown into an intentional, holistic modality that empowers the individual to grow resilient within community and society and liberate expression within relationship; nurturing authentic connection and right relationship to our sensual and sexual nature; honoring and relating well with our environment. It is about exploring our connection to that inexplicable sense that we are part of a much bigger whole through this miraculous vessel of our bodies.

Wren LaFeet brings 21+ years of physical exploration and experience in the performing and somatic arts to his facilitation. Tools envisioned for this space include Suzuki physical theater, Viewpoints, Blues Fusion, mindful movement practices for generating collective intelligence and Wren’s signature style of synthesis that guides participants through Cocréa’s map of different Realms of Connection: Self, Earth, Music, Sacred Other, Community and Whole. We are separate and that is absolutely necessary to create a nourished whole.
