Lila on Facebook

*Lila (lee-la) is a Sanskrit word that translates to "Divine Play."

When you play with purpose and presence it allows a deeper part of yourself to awaken and invites an exploration of the edge where the Divine interacts with the human - a place where you can learn how to fly; it is also a reminder to lighten up and stop taking everything so seriously!

Kick start the summer by treating yourself to an abundance of gifts that enliven the senses, welcome creative expression and nurture connection.  Experience a variety of playful practices that draw on: interactive theater, improv, storytelling, body awareness, vocal expression and sensory adventures.  Be empowered to expand your vision for what's possible, build confidence to say "Yes!" to Life's offers and creatively express your core passions in ways that delight you and enrich the world!"

Every interpretation of what is "Divine" how it is accessed, named and known (or unknown) is welcome. The richness of differences helps shape the personal and collective experience which gives life and meaning to the exploration of how to play with purpose and honor the mystery of the moment. What if those unknown moments in life, sometimes scary, become opportunities to connect with the Divine? What if those moments were actually your invitation to come to the Divine's backyard for a play date, a portal to limitless possibilities?

Lila invites you to greet the divine edge with your wings on!

  • Have one of the most unique and memorable weekends of your life.
  • Be empowered with playful practices you can continue at home and share with others.
  • Expand your vision for what's possible and be more 'game' to say "Yes!" to the opportunities life brings your way.
  • Increase the ease and flow of your confident, creative self-expression in the world.
  • Transform fears of failure, rejection and the unknown into playful opportunities.
  • Meet wonder-full new people and deepen your self-connection.
Held in the embrace of Ft. Worden's 434-acre forest with direct beach access, the weekend also includes two shared local, organic, vegetarian meals, unlimited access to Madrona's dance and yoga spaces as well as free attendance to classes and "continuity coaching" from Zhaleh and Leif for those wanting support in your personal journey and exploration of Divine Play after the retreat.

Drawing on over 40 years of combined professional and personal experience of "purposeful play", Zhaleh Almaee and Leif Hansen have teamed up to craft a fun, creative, restorative and sacred weekend that combines:
  • improv games and community-building interactivities
  • embodied story sharing and deep listening
  • movement meditation and sensory exploration
  • personal ritual and laughter yoga
  • reflective writing, and more!
All experience levels welcome, especially if you hear a little voice inside saying “come play...” Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring a journal.  More details will be sent to participants prior to the retreat. Visit for more detailed information.
